The publication was well received and a real sought-after medium for news, view and entertainment in the Katherine and greater outlying area. The Katherine Times is now sold throughout the Northern Territory. Owners Vince and Jill Fardone and staff are very proud of this publication which has won several awards. The owners have lived in Katherine since 1972.

Prior to the devastating 1998 Australia Day Floods the Times was running an average of 40 pages with a regular 48 pager from time to time. The biggest issue of the Katherine Times was 72 pages.

The Katherine Times suffered severely with the rest of the town during the 1998 floods. The Times offices and expensive equipment were totally destroyed. The Times never missed a week. The first issue after the flood was four pages and was only three days late.

The then local MLA Mike Reed offered NT Government assistance for the Times to continue, but it was on the proviso that it come out twice weekly. It's main purpose was to cheer community spirit and keep people informed on emergency matters. It was published twice weekly for three weeks. After this short period the Times grew to 8, 12, 16, 24, 28 pages in just a few weeks, settling at 32 pages within a few months.

Our biggest issue has been our 21st birthday issue with 80 pages looking back over 21 years.

Today we publish a minimum of 32 pages with the occasional 40 and 48 pagers. The Katherine Times thanks its readers and advertisers in helping us to continue to service our community.
